In addition to the Directors, a number of members of the EFA were in attendance and were invited to provide input.

President’s Report
Gordon gave some background information on the EFA since its founding on June 1, 2002. The EFA was incorporated in Kentucky and registered in Kentucky as the Endecott-Endicott Family Association, Inc. The membership has grown considerably in the past 2 years from the 14 charter members of June 1, 2002.
Gordon announced that Susan Endicott Potter had to resign as Treasurer due to career and family responsibilities. Cindy Endicott Levingston has agreed to accept the position of Treasurer.
Gordon talked about the web site created by Scott Endicott, a professional web designer. Scott was unable to attend the reunion this year.
Gordon announced the 2006 Reunion would be held at New Harmony, Posey County, Indiana. This was the destination of the following generation of the settlers in Kentucky.
Gordon indicated there were 3 Endicott reunions being held this weekend.
Gordon challenged each member to recruit 4 new members in the next 2 years.

Treasurer’s Report
Cindy Endicott Levingston reported that the costs associated with the Moses Endicott Memorial totaled $3452 with a balance of $482 yet to be raised. The monument was made in Vermont and cost $2260.
Cindy asked for approval to pay bills totaling $691 for items such as printing and postage. A motion was made and approved to pay these bills.
Cindy announced the proposition of an Endicott store on the web site to sell such items as charms, cups, and a video of the Moses Endicott Memorial dedication. This would be a source of funding for the EFA, Inc. Another idea put forth was a 2-year calendar using good quality photos from the 2002 and 2004 reunions as well as historical photos. We are open to any money-making ideas for the EFA.
Gordon Harmon will write a letter to Susan Endicott Potter thanking her for all her efforts as Treasurer and contributions in setting up the EFA.

Membership Report
Rebecca Given Wilson began her report by thanking Gordon Harmon and Ted Sanford for making the Moses Endicott monument a reality.
Rebecca explained the Membership Development Plan. It is a geographical plan with 12 regions and a Point of Contact (POC) for each region. We currently have POC’s for 9 of the 12 regions. POC’s are need for Regions I (New England), IX (Pacific Southwest-CA,AZ,NV), and XI (Alaska/Hawaii).
Rebecca stated that the membership of the EFA, Inc. rose in the 2 years since its founding from 14 charter members to 46 members as of 6/4/04.
We need input on how to recruit and retain members. A Membership Committee will be formed with Rebecca as chair and 3 additional members. Gordon Harmon will serve as ex officio member of the committee.
Some of the issues to be addressed by the committee are the amount of dues and types of membership, i.e. family, honorary, associate, junior. Also to be considered are international memberships and exchanges with other associations (merge or cross membership with other Endicott groups). Goals need to be established to increase membership. Ideas welcome.
The key over the next 2 years will be to recruit family members. Ted Sanford indicated he had signed up his children and extended family for a total of 10 members. We need to create an interest in the Endicott genealogy in our young people for their future involvement in the EFA, Inc.

Members may be recruited through the New England Genealogical Historical Society and the Winthrop Society.
Lea Wright suggested a hard copy of the proposed EFA newsletter be sent to each genealogical society. It would be on file for anyone doing Endicott research.
Each reunion needs a theme to create interest such as the Moses Endicott Memorial project for 2004. A suggestion was made for the 2006 reunion to search for the grave in Indiana of Moses’ father, Thomas Endicott.
A motion to increase individual dues from $10 to $15 per year was approved. An amendment to the motion to have a Family Membership for $20 per year was approved. The Family Membership would include the immediate family only living in the same household. The changes in dues will take effect 1/1/05.
One benefit of membership in the EFA, Inc. will be access to the restricted web site.
A motion to give Joan Endicott (wife of the late charter member, Charles Endicott) an Honorary Lifetime Membership was approved.

EFA, Inc. Web Site
Filling in for Scott Endicott, Gordon reported that current cost for the web site –was $232 for 2004. Expected cost for next year will be $192.

EFA, Inc. Awards and Guidelines
In Melody Decampo’s absence, Gordon reported the following:
a. Governor John Endecott Award will be given to the person who has contributed the most to genealogical research in the last 2 years.
b. Charles Endicott Memorial Award will be given to the person who has contributed most to the EFA, Inc. in the last 2 years.

Mayor Wells informed the EFA that June 6 would be the biggest patriotic day ever for Cynthiana since in addition to the Moses Endicott event, Cynthiana will celebrate the return home of the National Guard unit from Iraq and commemorate the 60th anniversary of D-Day, WW II.

Secretary’s Notes of 6/6/04

Moses Endicott Memorial Service and Dedication
Endicott Meeting House
Indian Creek Baptist Church
Cynthiana, Kentucky
June 6, 2004
1:00 p.m.

The Moses Endicott Memorial Service and Dedication was a most impressive event accompanied by beautiful weather. Church services were held at the Endicott Meeting House (Indian Creek Baptist Church) at 10:45 a.m. led by the Rev. Tom Moore. As in 2002, there were more Endecott-Endicott Cousins in attendance than regular parishioners. This is a very small congregation that keeps the Meeting House alive.

Notes on Moses Endicott Memorial Service
Following the services, people had the opportunity to walk around the adjoining cemetery where Moses Endicott and a number of other Endicotts are interred.
The program began at 1:00 p.m. with a Presentation of the Colors by an honor guard dressed in Revolutionary War uniforms. A young boy served as drummer.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the Rev. Tom Moore gave the Invocation.
Ted Sanford, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army (Retired) welcomed those in attendance and introduced the Guest Speakers – Bob Hughes, National Trustee, Sons of the American Revolution; William Shrader, Kentucky Society, Sons of the American Revolution; Dixiana Solomon, Kentucky Society, Daughters of the American Revolution; and Virgie Florence Wells, Mayor of Cynthiana.
Ted Sanford and Gordon Harmon, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army Special Forces (Retired) each gave some historical background on the Endicotts in America.
Following the speeches came the unveiling of the Moses Endicott Memorial. Direct descendants of Moses Endicott, Cindy Endicott Levingston and Rebecca Given Wilson placed a Memorial Wreath at the monument.
Ted Sanford gave closing remarks. The Revolutionary Honor Guard retired the colors, and the Benediction by given by the Rev. Bobby Duncan, pastor of the Indian Creek Christian Church. At the end of the service a musket was fired over Moses Endicott’s grave.
Attendees retired to the Indian Creek Christian Church across the road from the Endicott Meeting House for a delicious lunch.
Special thanks should be extended to Ted Sanford and Gordon Harmon for their efforts in organizing and conducting this most impressive event.

Personal observation
In addition to Ted Sanford and Gordon Harmon, there were several others in full dress U.S. military uniforms, both active and retired. To see Revolutionary War uniforms representing those who fought and died for our freedom along side the present day uniforms of those who have continued to give of their lives to protect that freedom was heart moving and reinforced the sense of pride in our country.
